WHY TWO DIFFERENT START DATES?
The organizers realized that with so many boats of different speeds that some of the slower boats struggled to make it in time for the Awards Party - since offering two start dates (Friday and Saturday) the majority of the competitors have arrived in time to enjoy the festivities and share "war stories" with friends and family.
WHY SHOULD I RESERVE DOCK SPACE AT NEWPORT YACHTING CENTER?
NYC has supported A2N since Race Headquarters was moved to its current location in 2015.The location is perfect not only for competitors but for family members and friends who are in Newport awaiting their arrival as it is centrally located in Historic Newport.
WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE FOR
SOCIAL EVENTS?
For the Competitors Send Off Party we suggest a “nice” shirt and slacks or shorts for the gentlemen, and casual cocktail attire for the ladies – think sundresses. It’s not TOO dressy but we appreciate the effort. View AYC’s House Rules Dress Code for more information. For the Awards Party, we’ve seen everything from blazers/yacht club ties and the classic red Bermuda shorts, to “I just got off the boat and barely showered,” and everything in between. It’s a celebration!
HOW DO I KNOW MY TRACKER IS WORKING BEFORE THE RACE?
Please listen to the instructions given to you by the volunteers at Tracker Pick Up. The trackers are tested 24-48 hours before the race with YB Tracking’s technical team and are charged before they are handed out. They charge with a simple USB cable so bring one along if you wish. If the Event Committee recognizes an issue with your tracker prior to the race, you will receive a call to meet with a representative and be assigned a new tracker.
HOW DO I REQUEST MY GEAR
TO BE TRANSPORTED?
Gear can be transported from Annapolis to Newport or Newport to Annapolis.
